« Previous Next »Dear Tumblr,
I am excited by the things ahead of me this week. My company finished up several large client projects last week, and our next round of projects has not yet begun, so I have time to work on my own pixel art projects.
Over the next few weeks, my goal is to release version 1.1 of Make Pixel Art, and to get version 1.0 of PixelVision submitted to the app store.
MPA 1.1 will include several new features - primarily a set of isometric drawing tools, and the ability to save pictures you draw to your iPad’s photo stream. The isometric tools are ALMOST done — I have been struggling to find the best method for drawing isometric cube so that they can easily be stacked and combined into more complex shapes. I also got ahead of myself, and implemented an overly fancy animated menu that I now have to remove because it is super annoying to actually use.
PixelVision is an iPhone app that takes images from your camera and renders them in several pixel art styles. It shares the pixel art engine from MPA, so you can also access pre-built pixel art pieces to layer onto your photo. I have been learning some fun things to get this app working, like using Javascript Web Workers to do palette mapping on images in the background. Also, palette mapping! But there is still a lot to figure out in terms of how all of these cool features will be packaged into one tiny screen, and I am anxious to piece it together.
Today is January 30. My first child, Zaphod Beeblebrox Princess Zelda Samus Aran Spence Brown will be born in just 41 days. It is time to be serious! About pixel art!
